De installatie verwijst naar het kinderspel de stoelendans, waarin een groep kinderen rondrennen langs twee rijen stoelen die met de rug naar elkaar toe staan en waarvan er altijd een minder is dan het aantal spelers. Musical chairs gaat over de harde confrontatie tussen jeugd en volwassenheid. Een confrontatie tussen ambitie en automatisme, van onbewuste verwachtingen van het leven tegen de behoefte om tijd te verspillen die niet door tijd verspilt is, van kracht tegen stilstand, van succes tegen verlies. -Silvia Pinto This month in morgen, Silvia Pinto ( Portugal) shows her video-installation Musical Chairs. The installation refers to a game, where children run around a number of chairs that are set up back to back in two rows, according to the childrens game, where the number of chairs is always one less than the number of players. Musical chairs deals with the pitiless confrontation of childhood with adulthood, games taught by culture. A confrontation of ambitions against automatism, of unconscious expectations from life against the need to burn the time which is not burnt by time, of vigour against immobility, of success against defeat. -Silvia Pinto
